One Of The Worst Years Ever

This is one of the worst years ever for storm chasing in Minnesota.  We were on the cusp of setting a record.  The latest a tornado warning has ever been issued in any year June 23rd.  This year we came close, within a few days.  But the pattern of cool weather continues.  This year stinks so bad, I've already disconnected my Sprint card for the year!

Storms Of 2008

I finally got the Storms Of 2008 DVD last week and had the chance to watch it.  Congratulations to all those that contributed footage and a big "Thank You" to all the volunteers that worked on the project again this year.  My favorite piece of footage wasn't shot by a storm chaser, but actually a sheriff's deputy dash cam (sorry storm chasers, I know that is taboo).  It was the EF5 that struck Parkersburg, IA on 5/25/08.  The massive wedge tornado was impressive, but the way the entire meso slowly lowered to the ground was just unbelievable.

The Warning Coordinator Meteorologist at the Twin Cities NWS did notify me today that they are using one of my pics in the new Skywarn presentation starting this year.  That also means they will be covering shelf clouds more during the training classes.  Thank goodness!
